Health & Safety Officer

Salary depending on previous experience and qualifications.


Location:
Marton SY21 8JX

42.5 Hours weekly - 7am-4.30pm or 40 Hours weekly - 8.30am-5pm


This is an exciting opportunity for a Health and Safety focused individual to join our growing business, based on the Shropshire / Mid-Wales border.

Currently employing external H&S consultants, you will become an integrated part of the team, overseeing the Health and Safety of both the factory and the offices.

The post holder will ensure that Health and Safety functions are managed in order to satisfy strategic intent and the requirements of Lowfield's Limited and applicable law.

1.Principle Responsibilities

Health and Safety

  • Ensuring Incidents are reported and investigated
  • Production of Key Performance Indicators
  • Supporting Health, Safety and Environmental Initiatives across all areas of the business
  • Carrying out Programmed Inspections / Audits
  • Conduct random audits and Inspections
  • Ensure Suitable and Sufficient Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work are produced and incorporated across the company
  • Communications with Stake Holders
  • Ensuring new or modified Processes / sites comply with Health and Safety Requirements
  • Conducting Fire Risk Assessments
  • Testing and reviews of Emergency Procedures
  • Carry out Noise Assessments
  • Conduct Light Assessments
  • Workplace Assessments as required
  • Delivery of Training and Inductions / Toolbox Talks
  • Contractor Evaluations

2.Minimum knowledge, skills and experience required to do the job

Qualifications and Knowledge

  • NEBOSH General
  • NEBOSH Fire and Risk Management
  • GCSE Maths
  • GCSE English
  • Proficient with MS Office
  • CDM Knowledge desirable but training will be given
  • Knowledge of working with OHSAS 1800
  • HSG 65 Plan Do Check Act
  • Asbestos Awareness
  • Statutory Inspections awareness
  • Woodworking Process Lines a must

Minimum 5 years' experience within High volume Manufacturing Environments encompassing Process Machinery and Transport.
