How to apply

Purpose of Post


To raise awareness of the Healthwatch Rotherham service, working with community groups, forums and hard to reach communities to seek feedback on health and social care services and issues, as well as strategic matters.


You will develop and deliver a programme of engagement, reaching out to all communities in the borough, with a particular focus on those that may be seldom heard.

You will meaningfully investigate and accurately capture people's needs, experiences and opinions so that Healthwatch can effectively drive improvements to health and social care services.

Working with the Information & Campaigns Officer you will provide information and signposting services to residents.

You will maintain an evidence base which you will use to promote the patient voice and influence decision-makers to improve services.


KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Develop and deliver a quarterly engagement plan in line with the services KPI's and quality framework.
  • Represent Healthwatch at strategic meetings, public events and other media opportunities.
  • Build meaningful relationships with the community to create opportunities for engagement
  • Engage with voluntary and community sector (VCS) agencies to coordinate joint ventures for events, workshops, surveys and consultations
  • Gather feedback from local residents on their views of Health and Social care services in Rotherham
  • To identify community issues, needs and problems within health and social care and accurately record the data, looking out for trends.
  • To promote the REFERNET referral system to partner organisations, enhancing referral pathways within the health and social care sector
  • To visit health and social care services to see and hear firsthand how services are provided and report findings and recommendations
  • To support and actively participate in stakeholder events and public consultation meetings, exhibitions and conferences in various locations
  • Contribute towards the management of the Healthwatch Rotherham's website and social media platforms
  • To contribute to the production of evidence based reports, including the Healthwatch Rotherham Annual Report
  • To contribute towards updates for the Healthwatch Rotherham Steering Group in line with the work plan
  • To undertake specific identified projects and any other duties consistent with the nature and level of the post as assigned by the Healthwatch Rotherham Manager
  • To submit a monthly report to the Healthwatch Rotherham Manager updating on targets achieved and work completed.

Other duties:


  • To contribute to the Healthwatch team and collaborative working with Citizens Advice Rotherham & District (CARD) by participating in staff meetings, away days and other events as necessary
  • To work with and support the training of Healthwatch volunteers as appropriate
  • To manage volunteers working in a community Engagement role
  • To liaise with other local and national Healthwatch services to identify best practice in Engagement strategy, research, information gathering and publicity

Professional Development:


  • To stay up to date with local, regional and national policy and strategy relating to health and social care
  • To attend training courses as agreed with, or determined by, the Healthwatch Rotherham Manager
  • Complete core training set by the Training Manager at CARD

Person specification

  • Ability to plan and manage own workload
  • Ability to meet agreed targets and deadlines set by the Healthwatch Rotherham Manager
  • Competent and experienced in using IT packages including knowledge of Google documents, spreadsheets and online forms
  • Empathetic and diverse approach to be able to work with differing views and needs from diverse communities and backgrounds
  • Experience of building networks or of developing professional relationships with external partners
  • The ability to update and utilise the Healthwatch website and social media platforms to promote engagement.
  • Experience of organising community events and activities face to face and online
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • An understanding of the Health and Social Care sector or a willingness to work and train to develop knowledge in this area
  • Willingness to travel to outreach venues around Rotherham and District and a current clean driving licence is essential.
