Orchard Care Homes are seeking to appoint a Head of IT.

With big plans for future growth, this is a fantastic time to join us.

This is an influential role r esponsible for the strategic planning, day to day operations and delivery of future services and solutions.

We need to ensure our IT infrastructure meets current and future requirements of the business.


Our Head Office is based in Harrogate where you will work closely with our stakeholders, to deliver key business benefits that are derived from the large investments in IT.

You will provide advice and technical guidance whilst being accountable for the full service delivery and the timely implementation of projects.

Insight into the role


Responsible for the creation, design, management, monitoring, and support of the IT infrastructure (networks, telecommunications and servers) and services, supporting architecture and roadmaps to ensure the selection, deployment and lifecycle management of appropriate services for the business.


Provision of technical guidance to the leadership team, to ensure that business benefits are derived from the large investments in IT infrastructure.


Actively manage relationships with suppliers ensuring awareness of infrastructure roadmaps, with a particular focus on the changing cyber security landscape and the requirements on the infrastructure to support our protection against known and emerging threats.


Responsible for managing IT infrastructure work and resource demands in an orderly manner, supplying resources for new projects and work requests and ensuring that solutions proposed are aligned with the business strategy.


Support and contribute to the significant upgrade of business systems planned for 2024 and 2025 which is being led by a temporary Head of Systems & Technology.

The Head of IT will be a key contributor to the upgrade project and will be responsible for managing the BAU operation of business systems.


Lead, manage and develop the IT team to maximise productivity, ensuring the skills pool is current and relevant to the requirements of the business, enhancing job satisfaction, promoting career development and implementing effective succession planning.

About you...

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is preferrable. If no degree is held, then a relevant vocational IT qualification will be required

Detailed proven experience in IT leadership roles, preferably in a similar industry or organisational setting

Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities

Good administrative and organisational skills

Proficient project management skills

Annual salary of £60,000 + £4200 Car Allowance

25 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
