Background to the opportunity

As part of our ongoing development, we are now seeking to complement our existing Geology, Peat & Hydrology team with a Graduate or early years professional.

Working with our existing team of environmental consultants, you will support, manage, and deliver committed projects and contribute to the development of ITPEnergised's related offering, commensurate to your grade and experience.

ITPEnergised is a client-focused consultancy, providing project management, feasibility assessment and environmental and energy services to a range of sectors, including onshore and offshore renewables, urban development and infrastructure, industrial & manufacturing, and oil & gas (energy transition).


The Environmental Planning Team covers a broad range of services including Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Ecology and Geology, Peat & Hydrology.


As part of the ITPEnergised team, you will:

  • Work alongside the aforementioned service lines to provide support to a wide variety of projects
  • Develop your business communication and commercial skills through personal involvement with 'live' projects and bids, etc.
  • Explore opportunities to develop both your technical and soft skills through training and onthejob learning
  • Have the opportunity to work with colleagues from different disciplines; and
  • Network with, and learn from, experts and influencers from across the industry


You will join the Graduate Development Programme which has been designed to offer the best possible graduate training and support mechanisms to help guide you through the first two years of your career.

The programme covers a range of aspects and is structured to help you achieve competency/understanding across many aspects of the business and will offer you the chance to join the graduate network within the business, to support peer to peer learning.


We will also endeavour to provide you with exposure to and training/work shadowing in as diverse a cross-section of the business as possible, dependent on workloads and client requirements.


The ITPEnergised Graduate Development Programme is a two-year programme designed to provide you with a firm foundation for successful personal and professional development in your chosen career.


Although experience is not necessary, and all training is provided through the Graduate Development Programme, some industry experience (for example summer placements or internships) would be advantageous.

Duties and responsibilities
Depending on your experience and skill set, your roles and areas of focus would entail:

  • Undertaking peat depth and condition surveys on a range of development sites (predominately onshore wind farms and transmission routes).
  • Preparation of Water Quality Management Plans and undertaking water quality monitoring and sampling.
  • Developing health & safety plans to cover field work tasks.
  • Contributing to the preparation of EIA Report chapters (Geology, Peat, Hydrology and Hydrogeology) and Technical Appendices (Peat Landslide Hazard and Risk Assessment, Peat Management Plans, Carbon balance, Private Water Supply Risk Assessment, GWDTE Risk Assessment etc.) across a range of developments.
  • Contributing to the preparation of technical reports including geotechnical/geoenvironmental appraisals, coal mining risk assessments and peatland restoration plans.
  • Leading or supporting on feasibility/constraints studies for prospective developments.
  • Graphics preparation and analysis of geospatial data (mainly using GIS).
  • Preparation of scopes of work and costs for input to fee proposals.
  • Project management, including to budgets and deadlines.
  • As the business requires, assist in delivery of other related environmental assessments, commensurate with experience and technical understanding.
  • Contribution to business development
