We have an opportunity to join DAS UK Group as a Capital and Regulatory Manager in Bristol.

The core responsibility of this role will be capital modelling and upholding all regulatory requirements of the Actuarial Function under Solvency II.


About The Role


In this role you can expect to calculate technical provisions, solvency capital requirement and related impacts on the Solvency II economic balance sheet.

You'll be expected to create and develop processes and models to allow timely and accurate submissionof the relevant financial results, adhering to governing regulations, DAS policies, Group requirements and professional standards.

In addition, you will develop the economic capital model for DAS UK, integrating it with the wider group model and develop strategiesand processes for capital impact assessment.


This is an opportunity to act as line manager to a team of actuarial specialists, guiding their professional development and assisting with the development of others in the team.


In addition you can expect to:

  • Monitor developments in regulation, Group guidance and actuarial standards; co-ordinate impact analysis and adoption and monitor adherence;
  • Attend and present at governance committees as required;
  • Uphold and develop the departmental quality procedures;
  • Develop own skills and knowledge to be an expert in the required areas and keep up to date with developments in the field;
  • Input to the Own Risk & Solvency Assessment process;
  • Conduct investigations and other actions of the regulatory Actuarial Function as required under Solvency II and produce the actuarial function report;
  • Form an independent actuarial view of the extent to which existing processes and techniques satisfy regulatory requirements and the risk appetite of DAS UK, and communicate this to senior management and the Board;
  • Recommend, agree and monitor appropriate management actions in response to findings; and
  • Carry out other actuarial investigations that may be required from time to time under UK regulation and legislation, and by Group.

About You

  • A willingness to undertake additional development to gain and maintain a practising certificate;
  • An ability to form a well justified, independent actuarial view, then use it to engage with senior management and work productively with them to effect change;
  • An ability to build good working relationships with ERGO and Munich Re Group functions;
  • A deep knowledge of nonlife actuarial techniques, preferably including prudential insurance requirements (required); and
  • Experience leading a team.
