We are currently looking for a dedicated and conscientious Veterinary Care Assistant to join our friendly team in Loanhead, Midlothian.

We want someone that is a team player, hard working and keen to progress.

Salary:
£10.42/hr

Work schedule:
This is a part-time role, working 28-hours per week between the hours of ;
Friday
Saturday
Sunday The hours include a 30-minute paid break.


Role requirements:


Theatre duties involve patient preparation (including restraint for IV lines, clipping patient surgical sites and sterile surgical scrubbing), preparing our theatre equipment, turning over our rooms between operations, cleaning and autoclaving our surgical kits and closing down our theatres once the last day procedures have been completed.


Ward duties will involve patient walking and monitoring with regular TPRs and weight checks as required by the patient care plan.

The Veterinary Care Assistant will assist the ward Nurse in their duties throughout the shift.

General practice cleaning and stocking (including laundry duties) of all areas including our Cattery, Dog kennels Exotics ward and Consultation rooms will also be completed by the Veterinary Care Assistant.

One very important role is to spend time with our inpatients.

We believe that every pet that comes through our doors needs to have a healthy dose of tender loving care to get them on their road to recovery as soon as possible.

Full training and support will be provided for this role.


A full induction plan will be provided over the first two weeks of beginning the role here at ICR Vets.

A meeting will take place at the end of this initial induction period to assess the progress of the applicant and to provide further support and training should they need it.

As part of the Veterinary Care team, the applicant will receive regular feedback and a yearly appraisal will be organised with your line manager.

ICR Vets is a growing first opinion small animal practice located across four branches in the Midlothian area. We are a close-knit team despite our size, with over 60 staff members working across our four branches. We continually strive to improve our standards of care and we promote a learning culture within our practice.


We have all the gadgets Veterinary professionals request these days, including laparoscopy equipment, class IV laser, digital x ray, ultrasound, biochemistry, haematology and blood gas analysis to name a but a few.


We have a number of Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Nurses currently studying towards Certificates in Medicine, Surgery, Diagnostics, Emergency and Critical Care, Behaviour and Exotics.

We have recently begun developing our in-house dermatology service and also our new first opinion Exotics service at our Loanhead branch.


We proudly run our own Out Of Hours Service from our Loanhead clinic which is manned by our own Vets and Nurses.

Applicant Requirements:
Experience of working in a veterinary clinic is expected.

Full training will be provided in all areas of this role and regular support meetings will be held with management.
