Packaging Innovation Technologist
We have a fantastic new opportunity for a Packaging Innovation Technologist to join our packaging team.


The role of the Technologist would be our in house specialist on packaging, providing a dedicated technical packaging research & development resource for delivering innovation and packaging improvement projects.


Responsibilities:


  • Role would concentrate on technical packaging development to facilitate the innovation pipeline
  • Provide technical packaging solutions to deliver against a consumer led brief
  • Technical expert working solely on all packaging related R&D projects
  • Working with suppliers and wider HARIBO group to proactively identify new packaging solutions for future innovation
  • Proactively work with new and existing suppliers to identify packaging innovations to improve our existing portfolio including; identifying opportunities in line with business requirements such as plastic reduction, cost engineering and consumer led functional improvements. As well as legislative requirements including extended producer responsibility.
  • Embraces stakeholder management, including keeping Marketing, Procurement and Production up to date with project progression.
  • Responsible for liaising with Operations and Supply Chain to facilitate packaging trials and manage technical roll out to bring innovation to fruition
  • Collaborates with Marketing to facilitate the development and launch of NPD through the Stage and Gate process
  • Responsible for liaising with global R&D stakeholders to facilitate international collaboration and learning
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve packaging development processes including trial management

Skills / experience:

  • Packaging R&D experience within FMCG industry including packaging material expertise
  • Proven experience of working on a product concept and providing packaging recommendations on optimum delivery
  • Ability to proactively identify and escalate project risks
  • R&D project management and delivery of R&D projects in line with launch timings
  • Cross functional stakeholder management
  • Proactively work with Marketing to identify future pipelines
  • Experience of successfully implementing the technical delivery of products in line with innovation platforms
  • Understanding of working with a stage and gate process
  • Experience of working with consumer research and interpreting research results
  • Leading packaging trials and product sign off
  • Ability to make commercially based decisions and build business cases for investment sign off
  • Problem solver, keen on seeking solutions when feasibility is a challenge
