SEN Teaching Assistant

Schools across Letchworth, Hertfordshire


Salary:
Between £90 - £110 per day

We are seeking dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to join various schools in Letchworth.

In this role, you will provide support to students with special educational needs (SEN) under the guidance of the classroom teacher and SENCO.


Responsibilities:


  • Assist SEN students in understanding and participating in tasks set by classroom teachers.
  • Adapt learning materials to meet the needs of SEN students.
  • Support in managing classroom behavior and fostering a positive learning environment.
  • Liaise with teachers, parents, and other professionals to support the development and education of SEN students.
  • Facilitate communication between SEN students and their peers.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).

Requirements:


  • Previous experience working with SEN children is highly desirable.
  • Strong empathy and understanding of children with additional needs.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other staff.
  • A positive, patient, and caring approach is essential.
  • Must pass an Enhanced DBS check.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or similar) are advantageous.
