Are you passionate about making sure people get involved in decisions that impact them? This is an exciting opportunity to join Buckinghamshire Council as a Consultation and Engagement Project Officer. You will support the effective and legal delivery of the Council's planned consultation and engagement activity.

The post sits within the Consultation and Engagement Team in the Communications and Engagement service.


We are a small, friendly team who work with colleagues across the council every day, so you'll quickly build a fantastic network.

As a team we support all council services with consultation and engagement activities.

You can expect to get involved in a broad range of work to develop your knowledge and experience in local government.

You will play an important role in involving people in the decisions the council makes.


About the role:

You will support the Consultation and Engagement Lead to deliver the Council's consultation and engagement activity effectively and legally. You will perform day to day activities to ensure consultation and engagement is meaningful, timely and inclusive. The role will need you to build strong relationships with colleagues, managers, leaders and members. You will ensure their requirements are understood to deliver a comprehensive consultation and engagement service.

This will be a very diverse role within a fast-paced environment


Your accountabilities will include:

  • Helping to manage the consultation and engagement forward plan to coordinate the team's work programme
  • Collaboratively developing the approach and content for the council's consultation and engagement activities
  • Building and launching activities on the council's consultation and engagement platform, Your Voice Bucks
  • Supporting the Consultation and Engagement Lead with projects designed to improve and promote the Council's consultation and engagement service
  • Collaborating with colleagues in the Communications and Engagement Team to forward plan communications and campaign activity
  • Supporting with training colleagues and members in consultation and engagement best practice, including new, emerging and alternative engagement opportunities and methods.

About you:


You'll have:
- excellent planning and organisational skills
- the ability to deliver to a high standard in a fast-paced environment
- experience in delivering effective support on a number of projects/campaigns at the same time
- excellent copy writing skills, spelling and use of grammar
- good oral and written communications with the ability to make clear, professional recommendations and plans
- a strong eye for detail
- excellent communication and interpersonal skills with examples of building and maintaining effective working relationships
- confidence to communicate with staff at all levels as well as elected members
- a positive, can-do attitude
- excellent ICT skills

This post is an 'any-desk' role.

As an 'any-desk' worker, you'll need to be connected to our network to access digital folders and resources, but this can either be from home or an office location when required.

You will be required to work from the office a couple of times a week, depending on your role and team requirements.
