We are looking for two Cleaning and Portering Operations Coordinators to join the Facilities team within the Campus Services department.


About the role:

The Cleaning & Portering Operations Coordinator is a new role within Campus Services.

You will be responsible for the delivery of effective and efficient customer-focused and customer-facing Cleaning and Portering services to University staff, students' and a wide range of visitors.


Responsibilities will include:

  • Day to day operational management
  • Leadership of multiple teams across site
  • Maintaining excellent customer service and continuous improvement
  • Managing HR and Health & Safety issues within the team
  • Ensuring services are cost effective, efficient and delivered to a high standard
You may be required to participate in a 24 hour call-out system.

Working on a rota basis, you will be available as 'Duty Manager' for a 7 day period to manage all out-of-hours emergencies.


This role is offered at 36.5 hours a week, flexible by agreement to oversee evenings and weekends as per team requirements.


About you:


  • Have experience managing staff and delivering change in the workplace
  • Be computer literate
  • Be able to demonstrate effective communication
  • Have a basic knowledge of HR duties; conducting performance reviews, authorising absence and conducting disciplinary processes
  • Have a responsible, tactful approach to managing teams
  • Work well in a team, with the ability to lead and motivate

About us:


Campus Services is a relatively new department and provides a wide range of services to staff and students at the University of Bath, from Accommodation services through to Waste and Recycling.

Campus Services Facilities deliver soft Facility Management services to our Claverton Down and City campuses and the Cleaning and Portering team, made up of over 100 staff, is key to enabling Campus Services Facilities in meeting its aims and providing excellent service delivery.

These two new roles will provide a new management and leadership structure to the Cleaning and Portering team to further help achieve its objectives.


With over 400 staff, Campus Services consists of a diverse range of teams including student living, hospitality, retail, cleaning and portering, security, postal services and landscaping.
