The Company

The motor sports company is seeking a Principal Software Developer with a blend of technical expertise and people management skills to join their expanding software development team.

In this role, you will lead a team of software engineers in deliveringcrucial projects and play a key role in advancing the company's growth and modernising its software systems and practices.

You will work closely with stakeholders to deliver high-impact projects that have a real-world impact on the track.

The Role
As a Principal Software Developer, you will work closely with key business areas and customers to deliver outstanding software experiences

Your responsibilities include:

Leading the design and development of nextgen software systems
Managing the software development team and fostering a positive work environment
Acting as the main point of contact for software requirements and stakeholder relationships
Continuously improving systems and adding new functionality to stay ahead of future needs
Streamlining software engineering projects and processes for a smooth customer experience
Providing expert architectural guidance and advice to the team
Ensuring the team has access to crucial information during live events
Conducting code reviews and providing technical mentorship
Collaborating with crossfunctional teams to prioritise project backlogs
Staying current with software engineering trends and technologies.
Implement automated testing for software systems to ensure quality and reliability
Facilitate Agile software development methodologies and practices
Promote open communication and collaboration within the software development team.

Your Skills and Experience
The successful Principal Software Developer will have the following skills and experience:

Proven leadership experience in directing high-performing, self-organising teams to solve complex problems.
Strong communication skills with a customerfocused mindset.
Solid understanding of Microservices, APIs, and Agile development methodologies.
Extensive knowledge of Python.
Exposure to Kafka streams.
Indepth understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Practical experience developing on both Windows and Linux operating systems.
Strong knowledge of container technology, including tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
Familiarity with DevOps tools and concepts, either Azure or AWS.
Effective stakeholder relationship management through exceptional communication skills.
Ability to foster a culture of problemsolvers eager to tackle new challenges.

The Benefits
The successful Principal Software Developer will receive up to £700 per day outside IR35.
