We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Part-Time Youth Worker to join our team to support our missional youth work activity.

You will play a vital role in planning, leading, and delivering safe and engaging youth club sessions for young individuals within our organisation.

This position entails a blend of face-to-face work and administrative responsibilities.


Responsible to:
Jacqueline Brown, Youth leader at St Gabriel's Parish House


Hours: 17.5 hours per week at a pro rata salary of £14,000 per annum. The main youth work is delivered Saturday 3 pm - 5 pm, as well as on Thursday afternoons.


Responsibilities:


1.

Program Delivery, Leadership and Development:


  • Design and implement structured sessions that provide a safe, fun, and creative environment for young individuals, adhering to our organization's values.
  • Deliver high quality facetoface sessions, ensuring effective oneonone interactions to actively listen, document, and address issues that our young people are dealing with.
  • Develop and execute training programs in various artistic formats that align with young peoples' educational, spiritual, physical and social needs in mind.

Relationship Building and Team Collaboration:


  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with new groups of young individuals, fostering an environment of trust and engagement.
  • Proactively encourage disengaged youth to actively participate in activities to foster their overall personal growth and when necessary engage in deescalation and conflict resolution.
  • Collaborate with external organisations regarding other programs that contribute to the broader youth work agenda.

Written Communication, Documentation & Reporting:


  • Effectively communicate both orally and in writing with all parties, ensuring clear and concise documentation of work carried out.
  • Document and track the progress of our youth activities and events, ensuring we gather reliable evidence and monitoring information that can be used for reporting.

  • Actively promote cultural cohesion and inclusion, challenging prejudice and discrimination within the organization.
  • Committed to working to support young peoples' development with the Christian values of community empowerment in mind.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to inclusivity by engaging young individuals with additional needs and those who typically do not participate in activities.
  • St Gabriel's is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. All post holders and volunteers are expected to share this commitment and read, adhere to and promote all aspects of the safeguarding policies of the St Gabriel's Parish Church Council and St Gabriel's Parish House Trust.

Person Specification:


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. (E)
  • Proven ability to engage and build rapport with young individuals from diverse backgrounds and with varying needs. (E)
  • Experience in program planning, delivery, and evaluation. (E)
  • Proficiency in utilizing social media platforms appropriately and positively on behalf of the organization. (D)
  • Competence in photography and podcasting to enhance the visibility of St. Gabriel's Youth mission. (D)
  • Willingness to engage with schools and collaborate with external organizations, including the police. (E)
  • Familiarity with traumainformed practice and detached youth work. (E)
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage and train volunteers and young individuals. (D)

  • Demonstrated understanding of safeguarding practices and child protection protocols. (E)
