£20,975 based on term time only
RESPONSIBLE TO
HOURS OF WORK 37.5 per week - term time only
Role Purpose
Key Areas
- To undertake the supervision of classes, groups and individual students where the usual timetabled member of staff is absent from the academy so that the impact of staff absence on the progress of students is limited.
Responsibilities:
- facilitate a calm and safe learning environment that supports students to learn
- To ensure all students remain on task throughout the lesson.
- To build effective working relationships with all students across the academy.
- To respond to student's questions.
- To register and record attendance and punctuality in lessons, in order to satisfy legal requirements and the academy's monitoring procedures.
Cover Supervisor May 202- To rigorously supervise classes for the duration of lessons, including effectively dealing with, recording and reporting incidents of inappropriate behaviour using the academy protocols.
- To ensure classes of students enter and leave teaching areas in an orderly manner in accordance with academy guidance.
- To leave teaching areas tidy and in good order ready for any subsequent lessons.
- To assist in ensuring the needs of cohorts of students within classes are met e.g. higher ability students, students with SEN etc.
- To supervise support staff assigned to classes in order to ensure that they can effectively support students' learning.
- To assist in establishing and maintaining good order in the academy, including undertaking duties as necessary.
- To participate in the preparation and invigilation of exams as and when required.

- Adhere to legislation and the Academy's policies and procedures
- Due regard to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Participate in performance reviews and professional/personal development activities.
- Will model the Academy's values at all times to generate a shared purpose
- Respect confidentiality. Confidential information to be kept in confidence and not released to unauthorised persons.
- To undertake any other duties as appropriate, commensurate with the grade of the post.

Qualifications:
GCSE or equivalent in Maths, English and Science at Grade C/5 or Essential AF, I, C above
Good honours degree Desirable AF, I
Knowledge & Experience
Experience of working in an educational setting Essential AF, I
A knowledge and commitment to safeguarding and promoting the Essential AF, I welfare of children, young people and/or vulnerable adults
Posts in at least one school which was in challenging urban Desirable AF, I circumstances
Previous experience of effective classroom management Desirable AF, I
Skills:
Motivation to work with children and young people and/or vulnerable Essential I adults
Understanding of the impact of effective relationships on the Essential I wellbeing of pupils
Understanding of how leadership in the classroom impacts on pupil Essential I progress
