An opportunity has arisen for Infection Prevention and Control HCA to join the team at the Royal and Broadgreen Hospitals.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who can work independently in this specialist area.

The individual would be expected to; carry out all standard IPC checks and measures and assist in delivering training providing specific skills and being able to organise and prioritise their time.


The Band 3 Health Care assistant within the Infection Prevention and Control Team supports the nursing team, using their acquired specialist IPC knowledge to enhance the workings of the IPC team.

The post holder will be required to have a basic knowledge of common infections seen within the hospital eg. MRSA, CDI, Flu, COVID including methods of transmission and the systems to control infection within the hospital setting.


The IPC HCA will be supervised by the Infection Prevention and Control nurses and the Band 4 Assistant Practitioner within the team.


The specific role of the post holder includes:

  • Supporting the IPC team to carry out audit of clinical practice in a variety of settings, interpreting results to identify key areas of compliance and non-compliance requiring action.
  • Having a knowledge of ATP monitoring tools and systems used by the IPC team to ensure high standards of equipment cleanliness.
  • Being able to deliver specific IPC practical training to the multidisciplinary team at ward level, which may include correct swabbing technique, commode and equipment cleaning, PPE donning and doffing


There will be an opportunity for the post holder to develop in the role with opportunities to learn skills and knowledge.

You will be working within a small specialist team, based on the Royal site with occasional travel to Broadgreen and Aintree via staff bus
