St Anne's Hostel we have a fulfilling and exciting opportunity for a full-time
Housing Support Worker at 25 x hours per week to join our dynamic support team
.

You will predominantly be supporting the residents within our Park View project. This role will be based in
Birmingham and in return you will receive £11.00 per hour.


Who are St Anne's Hostel and what do we do.


We are a homeless hostel who provides a person-centred support approach to 51 gentlemen aged 25 and over across two projects.

The first project and service accessed by all residents is the hostel which supports 33 gentlemen.

Running alongside this we have Park View.


Park View is a move on project for those who have progressed from the hostel to semi-independent living and consists of 18 one-bedroom flats.

Across both projects we have allocated dog rooms/flats.


About the Housing Support Worker
role:

As our
Housing Support Worker, you will support and empower vulnerable homeless men to sustain and manage all aspects of their tenancy while residing within Park View.

You will also support readiness for fully independent living once the resident is ready to leave the project.

You will promote community integration through providing practical and emotional support and empower residents to develop their life skills to enable this.


What we're looking for in our Housing Support Worker:

  • Experience in providing support to our resident group either in a volunteering or professional role.
  • An in depth understanding of customer service in a service delivery setting.
  • In depth and practical knowledge of health and safety concerns relating to the designated client group.
  • Knowledge of and ability to liaise with utility companies and local authorities.
  • In depth and practical knowledge of welfare, benefits and social funds available for our resident group.
  • Thorough and up to date knowledge of safeguarding vulnerable adults. The local policies, protocols and good practice used and the ability to recognise and raise where appropriate a safeguarding concern.
  • A willingness and confidence to learn tenancy related procedures and practices.
  • The ability to demonstrate an understanding of the barriers faced by our resident group and the strategies to overcome these.
  • An ability to manage and address workload effectively.
  • An ability and strategies to upskill residents ready for move on and independent living.
  • The ability to exercise an empathic yet firm support approach.

What you can expect to be doing as our Housing Support Worker:

  • Providing and offering support to an individual resident inline and consistent with St Anne's principles, policies and procedures.
  • Work within a committed, innovative and dedicated staff team.
  • Empowering tenants to live independently.
  • Assisting tenants with their move on options and preparing them for their move ons.
  • Promoting integration amongst all tenants into the local community and providing opportunities which will encourage them to promote their life skills and allow them to access the widest range of experiences.
  • Ensuring that the tenant's needs are met by liaising with other organisations and providing access to communitybased services and resources.
  • Ensuring that the participation of the tenant in the management of all household tasks, through teaching and practical support
  • Working with tenants to create and review their support plans and risk assessments.
  • Set manageable and achievable goals for residents while also monitoring and empowering timely progress.
  • Provide person centred support around life skills such as budgeting, maintaining a clean environment and other tasks that involve maintaining a tenancy.
  • Taking an active part in tenant involvement, liaising with relevant groups, and participating in relevant training and updates
  • Participating and contributing to own appraisal and supervision sessions with Line Manager
  • Attending appropriate training activities as agreed with your Line Manager
  • Maintaining a high standard of competence by undertaking relevant continuous professional development
  • Deputising for the Housing Officer
  • Working closely with the Housing Officer to provide efficient and highquality services for our tenants.
  • You may be required to fulfil some duties of the housing officer in their absence. This may include but is not exclusive to; flat health and safety checks, maintenance recording and management, supporting tenancy renewals and sign ups and maintaining antisocial behaviour logs and/or missed rent payments occurrences.
