We are pleased to announce we have a fantastic opportunity for an Planning Enforcement Officer.

This post has been created in response to the Government's Supported Housing Improvement Programme focussing on non-commissioned supported accommodation.

Therefore the post holder will be an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team working within the Revenue and Benefits division of the Council.

Liaising and working closely with other public, private and voluntary sector bodies and colleagues across the Council will be crucial, inclusive of close liaison with the Department for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities.


Essential Criteria:


  • Experience to analyse situations, exercising judgement, problem solving skills, initiative and responsibility
  • Understanding of planning and previous experience of working in a planning or enforcement section
  • Experience and the ability to direct investigations resulting in prosecutions or other legal sanctions in accordance with relevant procedural and evidential rules
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, supporting, coaching and collaborating to achieve positive outcomes for citizens residing in supported accommodation
  • Ability to recognise, analyse and resolve planning or housing contraventions, ensuring that landlords are appraised and advised on how to meet standards required
