School Librarian

40 weeks at 37 hours per week.

A good librarian combines a passion for books with the excellent interpersonal communication skills and computer literacy to run an effective library.

In addition to a natural inclination to work in a media-driven environment, librarians need to be good readers to keep up on current library trends and materials.


The successful applicant will have:

  • Experience of working with young people
  • Experience of utilising ICT and skills to access and retrieve information.
  • Good general level of education including literacy/numeracy skills.
  • A minimum of NVQ3 level relevant library and information qualifications or comparable relevant experience.
  • Professional qualification in librarianship, information management/ information science or extensive relevant experience in a library
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Good ICT skills, including ability to use library management software effectively
  • A helpful & positive nature
