ARE YOU A YOUTH WORKER? BIRMINGHAM NEEDS YOU

Our Mental Health Youth Workers are essential to our service.

Often our children and young people can struggle to engage with our mental health service and need specialists to support them to access help.


This role requires an experienced youth worker who is comfortable working both autonomously as well as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

You will work in a variety of primary and secondary schools both delivering lessons and assemblies with your STICK colleagues as well as offering 1:1 evidenced based interventions to young people.

The role also requires a breadth of experience in running groups as well as the ability to provide training to schools.

You will be fully supported by our Senior Youth Mental Health Practitioner as well as having access to further in house training.

The STICK team is our innovative Mental Health Early Help service provided by Forward Thinking Birmingham:
SCREENING Providing assessment and screening of CYP within schools, GP surgeries and family support services to increase early intervention and identify emerging symptoms

TRAINING Providing specialist training to professionals working alongside CYP to up skill and equip them to provide low level interventions

INTERVENTION Therapeutic menu of interventions for CYP who traditionally would not have met thresholds for a CAMHS Service

CONSULTATION Specialist consultation for those working in education, childrens services and GP practice encouraging wrap around care when it is most needed

KNOWLEDGE Practitioners include nurses, social workers, teachers and youth workers. The combined skill of this team brings a specialist knowledge and a comprehensive service


This is an exciting role and requires a lot of travel across the city so having access to a car on a daily basis is a mandatory requirement.

Interviews will be held in person.
