Job overview:


An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 SLT to work within our Schools & Clinic Team in Salford.

If you are looking for your first SLT position, this is a fantastic opportunity to work alongside an experienced group of Speech and Language Therapists to deliver a variety of interventions to children, school staff and parents/carers.


You will receive CPD, supervision, support and mentoring from a range of experienced SLTs across the service and there will also be opportunities to contribute to the development and delivery of training packages.

You will be part of a large, friendly, supportive team who are passionate about ensuring that all children and families receive appropriate and timely therapeutic and preventative interventions that aim to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.


Due to the nature of the post you will need to be able to travel to different sites as required by the service.

Interviews are planned for 25th April 2023.


Main duties of the job:


  • Deliver input to children/young people, families and schools using the Thrive and Balanced System approach.
  • To work as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver speech and language therapy interventions to children with special educational needs.
  • To monitor and evaluate programmes of care.
  • To demonstrate clinical effectiveness by use of evidence based practice and outcome measures.
  • To produce, with support, reports regarding patient's needs and summarising proposed care plans including for statutory purposes, e.g. EHCP reports and Annual review reports
  • To support colleagues in the delivery of training to teaching staff and parents/carers.

Qualifications/registration:


Essential criteria:


  • Degree in Speech and Language Therapy
  • Member of HCPC

Desirable criteria:


  • Evidence of completion of courses
  • Member of RCSLT

Skills, knowledge, experience:


Essential criteria:


  • Relevant experience at an undergraduate/postgraduate level
  • Good presentation skills (written)
  • Knowledge and demonstrated use of up to date assessment tools relevant to client group
  • Basic IT skills
  • Ability to write confidential notes and reports, and awareness of record keeping

Desirable criteria:


  • Knowledge of Augmentative and Alternative forms of Communication e.g. signing, symbols, communication aids.
  • Experience of working within schools.
  • Knowledge/experience of using different outcome measures

  • Good organisational skills and flexibility
  • Negotiation and problem solving skills
