Engineering Lead - Cloud


Focus 5 Recruitment are excited to be working with an exciting tech company who are looking for a Engineering Lead.

This role will be based within the clients Cloud Engineering team, with them ideally wanting someone who is experienced within data and passionateto lead the Infrastructure Team.

You'll need to demonstrate great skill in creativity and innovation with the ability to work in a high-pressure environment.

You'll be working on one of the Group's flagship projects to deliver a strategic platform for Cloud that will enable the business to realise the next generation of services that form the company's vision into 2023


The role is a 'hands-on' leadership role leading from the front - setting an example of behaviours and practices for team members to learn from and adopt in their own careers and development.

An advocate for Engineering, providing a voice to engineers withinthe teams, identifying and supporting them with resolution of impediments and issues as well as continually developing yourself and the team along industry trends.


Responsibilities

  • Leading and supporting "hands on" the team in development of Azure cloud hosted products around a selfservice Cloud Console & Command line that works in conjunction with a set of downstream orchestration APIs that drive selfservice environment creation.
  • Leading, mentoring, and developing the skills of the team
  • Being responsible for the Product Roadmap and contributing to wider Cloud Technology Roadmaps
  • Developing and delivering elements of the roadmap
  • Contributing to the design and delivery of cloud platforms and automation systems
  • Driving the creation / maintenance / prioritisation of the backlog with the team and ensuring the needs of our consumers are anticipated and included on the backlog
  • Communicating the backlog and roadmap across key teams within and beyond our Cloud Services area
  • Always seeking opportunities for improvements, new features and implementing them

Skills needed
Engineering Lead skills - 70% role

  • Experience of leading a team of software or Infrastructure engineers. Recruting Data Engineers to support the team
  • Demonstration of passion for developing people in a "playercoach" model, including developing and crafting the skills of the team
  • Comfortable working in an Agile / Scrum base manner
Technical Skills

  • Azure public cloud skills with experience with APIM or similar API broker, and development of RESTful APIs
  • Experience in code promotion using Github and CI/CD pipelines
Product owner - 30 % of role

  • Create / maintain / prioritise the backlog for your products and team to maximise the value from our products to our customers
  • Create / maintain / Deliver against a directional roadmap
  • Work with our internal customers to understand and anticipate their needs
  • Has strong Communication skills

Desirable Skills:


  • Experience of scripting language (Python, Bash, etc)
  • Knowledge of bank Constellation and Interstellar ReactJS frameworks
  • Developing serverless Azure Functions
  • Experience designing CLIs / Cobra framework with Go Lang
  • Experience of and / or node JS
  • Experience of Git & GitOps
  • Cyprus testing framework
  • Experience with component libraries e.g. Mui
  • Redux / Monorepo / HTML/SASS
  • Azure Public Cloud knowledge especially (Azure Functions, Azure API Manager,
  • Experience of IaC especially Terraform Enterprise offerings
