The Role


We're looking for a Principal Airworthiness Surveyor to join our General Aviation (GA) Airworthiness division with the Safety and Airspace Regulation Group, SARG.

As a General Aviation (GA) GA Principal Airworthiness Surveyor, you will be:

  • responsible for deputising for the Airworthiness Lead as directed.
- act as a senior technical expert and to provide supervision, guidance, mentoring and coaching to your Airworthiness sector colleagues, in achieving the aims of the Airworthiness capability group.
- engage with SARG working groups and carry out tasks of an Airworthiness Surveyor as required.


You will ensure that the General Aviation Airworthiness teams needs and strategy are achieved, using various tools available which include the EPT and Q Pulse.

You'll also assist with the further development and implementation of Performance Based Oversight (PBO).


About You

  • Have an engineering degree, Aircraft Maintenance Engineer's License or equivalent experience.
  • Able to demonstrate and have proven expert and detailed knowledge of the functioning and management of the aviation industry, preferably gained by working in an aeronautically related engineering discipline.
  • Have proven expert and detailed knowledge of the functioning of aviation regulation gained through relevant experience as an Airworthiness Surveyor or as a engineer in an Airworthiness Maintenance Organisation.
  • Able to use experience to make sound judgments to identify the wider implications.

Additional Information
For many appointments within the CAA, these roles require access to operationally sensitive infrastructure and/or Nationally Protected information. For these roles, the post holders must undergo National Security Vetting and achieve the appropriate level of clearance.
