The Role:

The Governance & Assurance engineer provides support to the sector Head of Engineering Governance & Assurance.

This is a key role in the central engineering function and has significant autonomy from business units and Global Delivery Centres.

The rolewill span all Digital Intelligence business units and will involve dealing with engineering leads from across the business and other sectors within BAE Systems.


The role holder will:


  • Manage the Delegation of Authority (DoA) process
  • Maintain the Delegation of Authority register on behalf of Digital Intelligence
  • Administer the letters of Authority for starters, movers and leavers
  • Carry out annual reviews of the DoA register to ensure it is topical
  • Monitor compliance to the Lifecycle Management Framework (LCM)
  • Ensure compliance to the Technical Bid Review (TBR) process
  • Ensure compliance to the Design Review process and associated requirements
  • Maintain the list of approved Design Review Chairs & Assessors
  • Monitor compliance with overarching policies
  • Carry out process confirmations on key engineering processes
  • Progress any nonconformances through to completion
  • Report on critical and overdue actions
  • Manage the dissemination, collation and analysis of the Engineering Assurance Statement as a feed into the biannual Operational Assurance Statement
  • Monitor functional performance
  • Responsible for the collation, analysis ans reporting of engineering metrics to the Engineering Director
  • Ensure the engineering documentation set is topical and manage the change process
  • Coordinate the collation of data to support functional performance measures
  • Maintain the list of engineering fellows
  • Represent Digital Intelligence at various Engineering working groups
  • Represent engineering at the Learning from Experience working group
  • Manage Working Groups
  • Schedule, facilitate and progress on various working groups aimed at promotion and enabling good governance across Digital Intelligence
  • Represent the Head of Engineering Governance & Assurance at Corporate working groups as required.
  • You are able to grasp and use basic problem solving techniques to carry out your role, with support and guidance
  • You show engagement, enthusiasm, and persistence in supporting governance and assurance activities
Whilst we are operating a hybrid working model, you may be required to travel into one of our local DI offices Guildford, London, Leeds or Gloucester as and when required
