We are working in exclusively in partnership with a FTSE 100 manufacturing business to find their new Accounting Advisory Manager, based anywhere in the UK (there is a London office, but you can be based remotely anywhere - your choice).

The role:
Accounting Advisory Manager


This is a unique opportunity to lead a highly respected team within Group Finance overseeing the Group's accounting function, working with senior stakeholders across a range of teams in the Group, in divisional offices and the operations to provide practicalsolutions to accounting complexities.

The Accounting Advisory Team forms part of the External Reporting function, and is a high performing 5-person team with a diverse range of backgrounds, skills and experience.

The work of the Accounting Advisory Team provides exciting opportunities to build a wide network of relationships across Group's functions and territories; access to a wide variety of challenging and interesting work adding value for key senior stakeholdersacross the Group; to develop project management and decision-making skills; to refine judgement capabilities and continual learning.

The team is a valued business partner that supports the business development and tax teams to determine the optimal structures for deals; supports local finance teams in preparing opening balance sheets for newly acquired businesses; presents at internal conferencesand delivers training; and responds to ad-hoc IFRS queries across the Group as they arise.

Project-based work includes preparing the Group for changes in accounting policies and developing / maintaining the Group accounting manual in conjunction with key stakeholders.

During external reporting cycles, the team is involved in reviewing financial reporting pack submissions; preparing financial statement notes and journals; completing disclosure checklists; and is responsible for the external preliminary results announcementpublication.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Assessing the accounting implications of potential deals with business development teams;
  • Refining the Group accounting manual;
  • Resolving IFRS accounting issues with colleagues, including the internal / monthly reporting, internal audit, tax and treasury teams, along with operational finance teams and divisional controllers;
  • Contributing to the Accounting Advisory Team's external reporting tasks;
  • Coaching and mentoring junior team members;
  • Presenting accounting matters at a range of gatherings of Group, Divisional and operating company colleagues;
  • Providing practical solutions to accounting issues;
  • Acting as a business partner to different functions across the Group including development, divisional and operational finance teams, procurement, technical services etc.;
  • Supporting newly acquired businesses to align with CRH's accounting policies.

  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral, ability to communicate complex accounting issues in a clear and concise manner

Education, Skills and Experience:

You will likely have an audit/accounting/business background either in a public accounting firm e.g.

Big 4 or Top 20 or other finance/IA function (at senior management/leadership equivalent level, or above), or a mix of the two.

This role would be ideal fora Senior Manager or Director from Big 4 / Top 10; or someone who has been trained in practice, and already made the move into industry, and looking for their next senior level role.

You will need to be a professionally qualified accountant (CPA, ACA, ACCA,RA, CIA) with some significant post qualification experience.
Experience in manufacturing would be helpful. As well as fluent English, additional language capability (in Spanish, Dutch, French, German) too would be an advantage.

Given the scale and geographic diversity of the business' operations, the role will involvesome travel, mostly around Europe and occasionally to Europe/Asia.
