Job Title:
Anaesthetic/Recovery Practitioner

As an Anaesthetic/Recovery Practitioner, you will play a crucial role in the perioperative care of patients undergoing surgical procedures.

Working closely with the anesthesia and surgical teams, you will provide skilled support in the administration of anesthesia, assist with the induction and maintenance of anesthesia, and ensure the safe and effective recovery of patients.

Your expertise and attention to detail will contribute to the smooth functioning of the operating theatre and the well-being of our patients.


Responsibilities:


  • Assist in the preparation of the operating theatre, ensuring all necessary equipment, medications, and supplies are available and in working order.
  • Collaborate with the anesthesia team to prepare patients for anesthesia induction, ensuring accurate and complete documentation of patient information, allergies, and preoperative assessments.
  • Administer anesthesia under the guidance of an anesthesiologist, monitoring vital signs and responding to any changes or complications.
  • Assist in the maintenance of anesthesia during surgical procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
  • Monitor patients' physiological responses throughout the perioperative period, including anesthesia induction, maintenance, and emergence.
  • Provide skilled care in the immediate postoperative period, ensuring patients recover safely and comfortably from anesthesia.
  • Assess patients' pain levels and administer appropriate analgesics as per established protocols.
  • Document all aspects of anesthesia and recovery care accurately and comprehensively in patient records.
  • Maintain strict adherence to infection control protocols and safety guidelines, ensuring the operating theatre environment is clean, organized, and hazardfree.
  • Stay updated on advancements in anesthesia techniques, medications, and equipment through continuous professional development and training.
  • Collaborate effectively with the multidisciplinary team, including surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure optimal patient care.

Qualifications:


  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Operating Department Practice (ODP) or Nursing (RGN) with active registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) or the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working as an Anaesthetic/Recovery Practitioner in a perioperative setting.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of anesthesia techniques, medications, equipment, and perioperative care.
  • Proficiency in airway management, invasive monitoring, and resuscitation techniques.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with the anesthesia team, surgical team, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and make critical decisions in emergency situations.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards.

Job Types:
Part-time, Temporary contract

Contract length: 2 months

Part-time hours: 40 per week


Salary:
£40.00-£42.00 per hour
