An exciting and innovative opportunity to increase the capacity and impact across Morecambe Bay/Westmorland and Furness, of our Public Health agenda for an innovative and enthusiastic Consultant in Public Health with strong health intelligence and technical skills, able to provide a population health insight into our planning arrangements and delivery of care, and support delivery and development of the best value services for our population.


This is an exciting new post, developed as a collaboration between Cumbria County Council, Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board and University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust (UHMB), with the ambition to develop our population health offer for the local health and care system in partnership with the local public health team.


UHMB are on a progressive journey of improvement and this post will contribute to the Trust's aim of delivering the best care in the right place for our patients' customers and service users; whilst also supporting the development of the population health offer for the local health and care system in partnership with the local public health team.


You will progress the Trust's contribution to health improvement for patients, their families, staff and the wider population, by developing and implementing public health strategies within the Trust, and with the wider health and care system and communities.


We are looking for a qualified public health consultant with strong experience of working in partnership with Health & Care system partners and who their local Public Health team and will work collaboratively with peers to support the development of the population health offer by providing public health leadership, advice and support across the local health and care system.

We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
