The
Global Medical Head, Hematology, is an instrumental leadership position within the Global Oncology Business Unit (OBU) Medical Affairs team.

Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of OBU Medical, this position can be based in the greater DC area in Gaithersburg, MD or in Cambridge, UK.

You will lead the global hematology medical strategy and drive execution of key deliverables to support primarily Acalabrutinib and the whole AZ Hematology portfolio, including but not limited to T-Cell Engagers, Cell Death Pathway, Bi-specific antibodies and small molecules.


What You'll Do:


  • Provide a coordinated approach to building medical leadership in hematology, and deliver medical insight into an overall hematology disease area strategy.
  • Support and have oversight of the development and execution of the asset specific integrated medical plans (evidence generation and scientific communications), including global external experts, diagnostics and patient centric activities.
  • Partner closely with colleagues in the Markets, Development, Oncology R&D, Regulatory, Commercial, Access, Health Outcomes and other key functions, and help build alignment on key initiatives including optimal approach to data generation, communication and supporting access.
  • Motivate, inspire and lead the Hematology team by crafting an environment of shared goals, clear responsibilities, talent development/retention, and continuous improvement.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Advanced scientific degree with at least 8 years of leadership experience in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industries, including leadership positions in Medical Affairs and/or R&D
  • Keen understanding of drug development and commercialization processes including understanding of outcomes research /payer access issues.
  • Ability to generate, analyze and interpret clinical trial and published data.
  • Proven experience of successfully developing and driving Medical Plans (e.g. leading appropriate prelaunch, launch and postlaunch portfolios of medical activities).
  • Track record of successfully contributing to and managing highperformance crossfunctional matrix teams in a complex organization with mínimal direct supervision.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, high
- level negotiation skills and the ability to resolve conflict in a constructive manner.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • M.D. with subspecialty in Hematology or Oncology preferred
  • Clinical development experience would be an advantage
  • Experience leading impactful teams in the pharma industry
  • Ability to discriminate between critical and noncritical activities and to follow established processes while identifying areas for process improvement.
