Trainee H&S Advisor

Job Overview
As a Trainee Health & Safety Advisor, you will work closely with your colleagues in Health &
Safety to enhance our Health & Safety culture in Norbrook. You will be mentored by the

Health & Safety Manager and gain a Health & Safety qualification through an accredited

external programme. You will learn all aspects of the Health & Safety Advisor role and will

have the opportunity to champion Health & Safety within a specific function, working closely

with employees to drive continuous improvement in Health & Safety. You will be given the

opportunity to develop skills as a Health & Safety trainer and roll out training across the

Company. You will also be involved in setting the standards and ensuring these are

implemented through regular assessments and audits, providing feedback on, and

challenging poor Health & Safety practices.


Main Activities/Tasks

  • As a Health & Safety champion, challenge unsafe systems of work; advise teams on
corrective actions to prevent repeat occurrences.

  • Conduct internal training sessions & presentations to enhance Health & Safety culture &
behaviours.

  • Support functions in carrying out practical risk assessments complete taskbased risk
assessments & audit existing risk assessments.

  • Participate in H&S audits, work with auditors to demonstrate compliance & develop
action plans to close any gaps identified through external audits.

  • Complete safety inspections regularly, feedback and follow up on closure of actions,
setting the standard for housekeeping and Health & Safety behaviours.

  • Remain up to date with changes in legislation & ensure a continuous improvement
approach is developed within the EH&S Department to drive progress.

  • Any other duties as required to support Health & Safety culture.

Essential Criteria:


form in order to be considered:

  • At least three year's previous experience within a Manufacturing / Engineering
environment

OR
experience within a Manufacturing/ Engineering environment.

  • A proven track record in current role to make & sustain improvements.
  • Good interpersonal and presentation skills with the ability to influence at all levels
  • Ability to undertake external training and successfully achieve a Health & Safety
qualification, which may include study in your own time.


Desirable Criteria:

Due to the nature of the role preference will be given to applicants demonstrating the


following desirable criteria:

  • Previous H&S experience with the Pharmaceutical industry.
  • Proven ability to work on own initiative.
  • Previous experience in leading improvement projects.
  • Education & Training (EAT) qualification.

Duration:
Full time, permanent.


Location:
Newry.

  • This role will be based in a site that produces and handles penicillin, and as such, this
role would not be suitable for those that have a penicillin allergy.
