Requirements of the Speech and Language Therapist/SLT:

Degree or equivalent within Speech and Language Therapy and HCPC registration
Recent post qualifying experience working as a Speech and Language Therapist

Main Duties:

To provide a speech and language therapy service to a designated caseload of adults with a learning disability working across

- the community of Scunthorpe and surrounding North Lincolnshire

To independently assess, develop and implement specialist programmes of care and treatment for individual patients with communication and/or swallowing difficulties
To assist in the training of carers and staff in communication techniques and management of swallowing difficulties
To plan, provide and evaluate a high quality specialist Speech and Language Therapy service to meet the needs of adults with learning disabilities in Scunthorpe
To provide effective line management for speech and language therapy assistants in Scunthorpe Learning Disabilities service
To conduct annual Performance and Development Reviews for Speech and Language Therapy Assistants in Scunthorpe Learning Disabilities Service
As a Clinical lead within the service, actively contribute to the development of others within multidisciplinary team
To assist in the recruitment of new staff and ensure effective induction is provided
To function as a Clinical Lead practitioner with adults with learning disabilities who have communication and / or swallowing difficulties
In conjunction with Senior Managers, to manage and develop the direction and delivery of speech and language therapy services to the adult learning disability
