The Production Planner will be required to establish and control production plans for the sub-assembly lines ensuring that the manufacturing plan is maintained in line with the Master Production Schedule.

Coordinate with senior planners and buyers, communicate effectively with production supervisors and warehouse team to ensure plans are understood and executed on time.

Support engineering changes as required and maintain MRP in line with those changes. Participate in all stock taking activity and ensure that inventory transactions are managed correctly for your area.


The responsibilities of the role include (but are not limited to)**:

  • Generate and maintain 'Production Schedules' and documentation for sub-assembly lines ensuring that these complement the overall master production schedule. Ensure that capacity constraints and batching controls are taken into account in the creation of these plans.
  • Run weekly planning meetings with Subassembly supervisors to ensure understanding of and adherence to plan. Review all bookings, shortages, manpower, constraints, priorities and make adjustments accordingly.
  • Review MRP weekly action messages to ensure accurate judgements can be made on order proposals by both planners and buyers.
  • Execute engineering changes in a timely fashion updating MRP structures and communicating to the wider team on completion. Consider slow moving and obsolete stocks through the implementation of ECO's and make recommendations for timing of ECO introduction.
  • Ensure incoming materials are managed and expedited through the Goods Inwards Inspection function in accordance with overall production requirements.
  • Provide full support of MRP related activities under the guidance of the master data controller i.e. updating MRP attributes in the Item Balance/Master files. Maintain item costings ensuring costs are rolled upon changes to any MRP structure.
  • Ensure scrap and waste and are communicated early and transacted efficiently and accurately to maintain stock levels correctly
  • Participate in and provide active support to half year and annual stock takes. Assist the lines in getting ready and ensuring their stocks remain as accurate as possible.

Production Planner Specification:


  • Right to live and work in the UK
  • 1 years experience in a planning role within a manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of MRP & associated planning and scheduling routines
  • Experience of computerized inventory management systems and up to date methodology.
  • IT Skills (Microsoft Office)
  • Ability to understand technical drawings
  • Proficient in MS Office


This role will be worked over a 4.5 day week; Monday to Thursday 08:00 - 16:45 and Friday 08:00 - 12:30.

Flexibility in this role is critical to the success of supporting the team.
