OVERVIEW OF THE JOB
To deliver outstanding teaching, learning and assessment across the Pathway within the Extended
Diploma, Foundation and other courses as required to maximise learner progress and outcomes in
REPORTS TO
You will be directly responsible to Pathway Leader for Experimental Studies
LOCATION
This role will be based at CSVPA Cambridge in the Sturton Street building
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB
The following section outlines a more detailed but not exhaustive description of the duties pertinent to this post:
Teaching & Learning
- Deliver outstanding teaching, learning and assessment through planning and preparation of classes, which enthuses and inspires students to reach their potential and promote enjoyment of learning
- Support and encourage students' progression into the College's HE courses where appropriate
- Induct students appropriately, to provide educational advice, counselling, guidance, and tutorial support to students, including individual learning plans as directed
- Supervise students' attendance and behaviour and follow up as appropriate, in accordance with the Behaviour and Attendance policies
- Ensure lessons are in line with Schemes of Work and their respective objectives, and that these are shared with students, feeding back on materials, courses and lessons to academic and other managers/colleagues as required
- Deal with student issues/emergencies as and when they arise
- Contribute towards making a positive and productive physical environment that enhances learning
- Write reports, when appropriate and directed by the course outline, on students with clear formative comments and targets as to how to improve work, by deadlines given, and provide regular estimated grades and feedback as required. Maintain effective records of lessons, grades awarded. Ensure accurate attendance records are kept for every lesson using the College electronic systems
- Administer and mark placement tasks and carry out a range of formative and summative assessments as appropriate
- Assess, track and provide relevant and timely feedback on achievement, progress and developmental needs to students, and other managers/colleagues, including student records
- Set and mark promptly independent study to be completed outside of lessons in accordance with the Marking and Assessment Policy
- Develop materials and resources, implement, support and/or lead in the production and improvement of Schemes of Work as appropriate, and undertake other academic project work as directed.
- Participate in the College's procedures for student interviews when required
- Contribute towards the optimal utilization of learning environments, e.g. Canvas to motivate and inform students
- Attend all meetings when required, and attend/deliver INSET sessions as directed Process / Procedures (inc safeguarding)
- Ensure a safe and secure environment for staff and students when they are working within the
- In line with standards and procedures defined within the PT handbooks, ensure duties as a Personal Tutor (PT) are discharged effectively.
- Support the College, its leadership, outreach developments and contribute to its 5 year vision
- Continue personal development as agreed
- Engage actively in the performance review process
- Comply with any reasonable request from the Rector to undertake other work
- Promote a positive working experience for everyone
- Help to provide a professional and welcoming environment for all visitors to the College
- Participate in Performance Management (PM) scheme in line with the College's policies and
- Support the sales team in the promotion of the College when appropriate
- Be aware of your responsibility to promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young person's you are responsible for/come into contact with during your employment, and be fully aware of the College Child Protection Policy
- Teaching Qualification desirable
- Ability to plan teaching, learning and assessment
