Description
Some of the duties could include:
- High quality of care and support for children and young people.
- Working within the guidelines from the 1989 Children's Act, National Minimum Standards, Every Child Matters, and other relevant legislation.
- Create a nurturing, supportive and caring environment in which children feel safe and secure.
- Establish positive relationships with the children and young people.
- Ensure care plans are followed and in date.
- Attending to practical matters in relations to childcare such as cooking, cleaning, general maintenance around the home.
- Act as key worker for young people and children to ensure plans are met and in date.
- Provide emotional support at times of difficulty or stress.
- Being ambitious for young people and helping them achieve their goals.
- Providing support with their educational needs and extracurricular activities, this may include supporting them in the classroom if needed.
- Deal with challenging behavior
