Some of the duties could include:

High quality of care and support for children and young people.
Working within the guidelines from the 1989 Children's Act, National Minimum Standards, Every Child Matters, and other relevant legislation.
Create a nurturing, supportive and caring environment in which children feel safe and secure.
Establish positive relationships with the children and young people.
Ensure care plans are followed and in date.
Attending to practical matters in relations to childcare such as cooking, cleaning, general maintenance around the home.
Act as key worker for young people and children to ensure plans are met and in date.
Provide emotional support at times of difficulty or stress.
Being ambitious for young people and helping them achieve their goals.
Providing support with their educational needs and extracurricular activities, this may include supporting them in the classroom if needed.
Deal with challenging behavior
