Core fieldwork includes the collection of high-quality hydrometric data from sites across the Yorkshire network and is principally, but not exclusively, the following types of data, rainfall, river flow, river level and groundwater levels.
The collection and delivery of this hydrometric data is essential for the effective management of water resources and flood risk both locally and nationally.
As responding to incidents is a central part of what we do, you will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident.
This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
- The team 1
- The team undertakes Hydrometry and Telemetry activities within the Yorkshire Area and are essential data providers to the organisation and its external partners. You will join a predominantly field based team and will be key to the delivery of the team's operation of the hydrometric network and the maintenance work required for its upkeep and resilience.
- Experience/skills required 1
- We are seeking a selfmotivated individual and a good team player with a positive can do attitude and passion for learning, whom possess knowledge and proven ability in:
- Practical experience of field work and maintenance tasks.
- Awareness of different hydrometric monitoring methods and resulting data.
- The ability to plan own workload and flexibility
- Confidence using IT systems
Other key requirements include a keen eye for detail, good organisational skills and the ability to communicate well to a wide range of individuals and groups.
As part of a customer driven team, you will have excellent communication and customer service skills in order to understand client requirements and deliver to their expectations.
