We are excited to announce a new position has been created within our Responsive Maintenance and Voids works stream covering the East Devon area.

We are looking for a damp and mould specialist
Building Surveyor to join our friendly local, Woodbury team.


Reporting to the Managing Surveyor, as part of our small commercial team, you will be working across Exeter, Exmouth, Sidmouth and the beautiful surrounding areas of East Devon.

You will be attending residential properties to complete condition surveys surrounding complex disrepairs and, specifically conducting damp and mould assessments, where appropriate.


As the Building Surveyor for our Woodbury team, you will play an essential role; offering building fabric expertise and you will take the lead in directing our work specifications, on complex disrepair and damp and mould cases through to completion.

We're looking for someone who has excellent knowledge and experience of buildings with a key eye for detail and a passion for delivering excellent customer service.

The Building Surveyor role

You will be providing a professional surveying service for the purpose of repairing maintaining and improving our social housing clients' owned property stock. Specifically, this will include.

  • Conducting cyclical stock condition surveys on company owned stock (house, flats, bungalows) and updating the Housing Management system with the results of surveys, damp and mould investigations and complex disrepairs
  • Undertaking property damp and mould assessments to correctly identify the root cause and manage all remedial works that follow within specific timescales, taking ownership from survey through to completion/resolution.
  • Obtaining Building Regulation and Planning approval where and when required for works.
  • Preparing preconstruction information and act in accordance with the CDM Regulations and assisting the Commercial team in the preparation and development of contract documents.
  • Consistently monitoring and reporting on performance to ensure that services meet performance, contractual compliance, quality, and budgetary targets.
  • Promoting, liaising, and communicating with tenants, tenant groups, leaseholders and tenant associations ensuring through good management, high customer satisfaction returns.

What will you bring as a Building Surveyor?

  • Prior knowledge and interest in building fabrics is essential. A related degree, professional qualification or similar, to evidence this, would be advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to build trusting and collaborative relationships and dialogue between contractors, your direct team, tenant/residents, and key client points of contact, is imperative.
  • The ability to work autonomously and flexibly, managing your own diary with good organisational and problemsolving skills
  • You will work with honesty and integrity ensuring the highest standards of customer care at met, always.
