Sometimes, a really interesting job comes along. One that's a little bit different. And here it is

Ideally you'll have experience of the hotel or hospitality world but otherwise, you'll be fascinated by what goes on behind the scenes in that world and be keen to be a part of it.

Your role will be to look after all the finances of this £5.5 million turnover business.

Your communication skills will need to be top notch to operate in this environment as you will liaise extensively with other Heads of Departments, answering their queriesand helping them to manage the costs of their departments.

Not only that - you might be dealing with hotel guests and they don't want a Basil Fawlty approach
This is a hugely varied Finance Manager role but here are just some of the things you'll be doing:

  • Producing the monthly management accounts with all that entails including accruals, prepayments, journals and some intercompany transactions, control accounts and Balance Sheet reconciliations
  • Producing reports which contain KPI's such as cost of labour and analysis of profit margins
  • Producing the commentary for the monthly accounts including variance analysis
  • Monthly meetings with the Directors and Heads of Departments regarding the financial performance of the business
  • VAT Returns
  • Purchase ledger
  • Liaising with a payroll bureau and checking the payroll figures are correct
  • Extensive reconciliations between systems and also of payments
  • Some credit control but this is only about 10% of the role
