Job Title:
Fundraising and Events Officer


Hours:
Minimum 22.5 up to 37.5 hours per week - full time or part time would be considered.


Job status:
Permanent after 6 months' probationary period.


Salary £26,000 - £28,000 dependent on experience (based on full time hours).


Location:

Dorset /Hampshire based with hybrid of flexible home/office working. Minimum 1 day in the Southampton office or Dorset meeting space, per week.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Fundraising and Events Officer to join our small, dynamic cancer charity team based on the central south coast.

This is a new role within our 4-person team as we grow our charity.


As a key member of the PLANETS team, this new role will take an active lead in challenges, events and corporate fundraising.


Reporting to the CEO, the post holder will proactively engage with PLANETS supporters, ensuring communications are delivered in a timely, appropriate manner to engage existing and recruit new supporters.

The post holder will also play a key role in working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, helping to deliver supporter and fundraising events.


  • You will provide support and encouragement to all individuals, groups and organisations raising money for PLANETS through challenges and events.
  • Working with the team to plan, promote, coordinate, and deliver all PLANETS events, including the annual ball, oneoff initiatives, projectfocused or specific appeal driven events.
  • Research and project manage new events; oversee all event and challenge income and expenditure projects that you lead on; liaise with the CEO to ensure this is accurately recorded for accounting purposes.


The post holder will need to have charity fundraising /event management experience, be IT competent and be a motivated and confident communicator.

Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and good ability to build rapport with supporters and colleagues alike will be necessary.

About PLANETS Cancer Charity - Registered Charity No

PLANETS was set up in 2011 by Consultant Surgeon Neil Pearce, Interventional Radiologist Brian Stedman, and Neuroendocrine cancer patients Layla Stephen (CEO) and Jo Green (Operations Director).

Layla and Jo currently run the charity with a board of Trustees Including Neil Pearce (Chairman) and Brian Stedman, which provides direction for the organisation.

PLANETS helps patients with pancreatic, liver, colorectal, abdominal, and neuroendocrine cancer by funding patient support groups, innovative treatments, and research. Since 2011 we have raised over £1,900,000

Our Key Achievements have been:

Establishing a network of patient support groups across the Wessex region.

Funding the introduction of intra operative radiotherapy (IORT) with the UK's first mobile electron beam radiotherapy machine, able to deliver radiotherapy to advanced cancers during surgery.

Funding full-time pancreatic and neuroendocrine tumour researchers to work with the clinician scientists in Southampton's world leading cancer immunology research department.

PLANETS Cancer Charity is dedicated to serving the needs of our regional population which extends from Lyme Regis to Bognor Regis and provides specialist cancer services to the 4 million people who live across Hampshire, Wiltshire, Dorset, the Isle of Wight, the Channel Islands and West Sussex.
