Description
Forward Leeds is the alcohol and drug service in Leeds for adults, young people and families. Forward Leeds is delivered by 4 services in partnership, led by Humankind. 'Working Together' covers the many ways Forward Leeds and Humankind teams up with the communities and people we support.

We do this to find solutions, to share responsibilities, to make decisions, to learn, grow and to 'get things done' that will improve or enhance the service we deliver.

Feedback and discussions with the people who access/ have accessed our services is key to achieving this.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) champions work across Forward Leeds to ensure individuals accessing our services, staff and volunteers are being included and considered.


  • There is a member of staff based in each of the Forward Leeds Hubs and at the 5 Ways recovery Hub who is the dedicated Working Together Champion who lead their Working Together Group and activities, there is the same set up for our EDI champions.
  • To assist Forward Leeds Working Together / EDI Champions to create opportunities for people who use/have used our services to be involved in Working Together & EDI Activities
  • This role will help you to gain valuable experience in:

Tasks will include:


  • Promoting and encouraging people to be involved in Working Together Groups and activities
  • Supporting people to completing identified consultations and surveys
  • Supporting recruitment of staff and volunteers for example being part of an interview panel as a representative of people who use/have used our services
  • Helping your Working Together / EDI Champion to take forward any ideas/actions discussed in group meetings and feedback to the group

  • Experience in working in graphic design, using relevant computer programmes (e.g. Adobe)
  • Able to work as part of a team, on own initiative and to instruction
  • Nonjudgmental towards people who have experienced substance misuse
  • Some experience of working with vulnerable adults
  • An understanding of Humankind information is available on our website, and you can call a specific project to make enquires
  • A genuine interest in being part of the mission and vision of Humankind
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries, adhere to Humankind policies, engage in supervision, and complete relevant training
  • Good computer skills and the ability to complete data collection systems

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience of working / volunteering with adults at risk / with support needs related to drug/alcohol use
  • Confident in lone working and/or speaking with public


We ask that you are able to commit to a half a day or full day for a minimum of 4 months.

The Forward Leeds service is open rom Monday-Friday 9am-5pm.
Interviews will take place end of January / beginning of February 2023
