Haematology has a vacancy for a Medical Secretary, based at Maidstone Hospital (some cross site cover may be required).

You will be part of a friendly, dedicated team, committed to delivering compassionate and quality care to haematology patients. You'll work as part of a multi-disciplinary team where everyone's contribution is valued.

Key tasks will include dealing with patient and carer queries; audio typing; liaising with various members of the Haematology team including ward staff and Clinical Nurse Specialists; liaising with other departments; maintaining electronic patient records; managing and maintaining the diary; working closely with the Consultant Haematologists.

Excellent communication skills, ability to manage own workload, prioritise tasks and a patient-centred approach are vital.

An understanding of the need for patient confidentiality is essential.


Key tasks include but are not limited to:

  • interaction with patients and their families on the 'phone;
- audio typing;
- managing and maintaining the diary;
- updating patient records with correspondence and results;
- an ability to manage own workload.

Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust is a large acute hospital Trust in the county of Kent.


The Trust provides a full range of general hospital services and some areas of specialist complex care to around 500,000 people living in the south part of West Kent and the north part of East Sussex.

The Trust's core catchment areas are Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells and their surrounding boroughs.

We work from two main clinical sites:
Maidstone Hospital and Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury.

Tunbridge Wells Hospital opened in 2011 and provides single rooms with en-suites for all in-patients - the first of its kind in the country.
