Description

Helpline Co-ordinator (Part-Time)
London (with hybrid working in the UK)

The Organisation
We're The Mix, a charity that provides free, confidential support for young people aged under 25.

We believe all young people should be able to make informed choices about their physical and mental wellbeing so that they can live the lives they choose.

Life is tough, we know that. But support doesn't have to be.

That's why we're here to take on the embarrassing problems, weird questions and please-don't-make-me-say-it-out-loud thoughts that people under 25 have.

We're now looking for a Helpline Co-ordinator to support the delivery of our volunteer led one-to-one support services on a permanent, part-time basis, working 28 hours per week.

The Benefits:

  • Salary of £24,000 per annum (pro rata)
  • 35 days' holiday (pro rata) including bank holidays
  • Pension scheme
  • Flexible and remote working available
  • Childcare vouchers
  • Eyecare vouchers
  • Life assurance
  • Weekly staff socials, plus Summer and Christmas Party
  • Colleague of the month awarded half a day extra annual leave (pro rata)
  • Opportunity to work on occasion in a Central London location
  • Monthly Clinical supervision offered for front line services staff
  • Coaching Environment
  • Learning, development and training options

If you have experience of delivering digital support services (or an interest in gaining experience), this is a fantastic opportunity to step into an incredibly rewarding role with our progressive charity.

You'll have the chance to make a positive impact on the lives of young people through delivering our amazing services.

From mental health struggles to financial woes, you'll be the voice of support and the empathetic ear that helps them make the right choice.

We've got an exceptional set of value that support our mission of empowering the under 25s and our vision of being their first point of contact.

We are brave, supportive, collaborative, proactive, non-judgemental and empowering.

So, if you want to join a passionate team and develop an exceptionally rewarding career while working in a fun and engaging environment, we want to hear from you.

The Role

Overseeing our volunteers, you'll ensure effective shift management and assist with ongoing training and development to support the delivery of a high-quality service.

Engaging with volunteers on shift, you will ensure their volunteering experience is positive and meaningful, they receive any training they need and are eager to continue volunteering with us.

About You
To be considered as a Helpline Co-ordinator, you will need:

  • Experience and/or interest in delivering support services via digital channels
  • An understanding of how to train, motivate and develop volunteers
  • A demonstrable interest in the issues which affect young people
  • A good understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality and safe working practices
  • The ability to maintain effective boundaries whilst delivering a service with empathy
  • The ability to carry out objective risk assessments, liaising with emergency services as needed
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • IT proficiency

Other organisations may call this role Support Service Co-ordinator, Support Co-ordinator, Helpline Team Lead, Volunteer Co-ordinator, Helpline Advisor, or Wellbeing Advisor.
