Purpose of the post:


To plan, organise, deliver and lead a regular programme of activities for our young members, aged 0-12, with an additional support need, disability or mental health condition.

This may include inclusive groups, activity days, holiday activity programmes, themed weekends and partnership programmes.


Main Function:


  • To oversee the children's services function of the organisation through effective line management of our children's services facilitators.
  • To provide an inclusive service so that our members will have fun, stay safe, be inspired, make friends, learn, contribute to and provide them with life skills socially and individually.
  • To assist the staff and volunteers to organise, deliver and facilitate stimulating and innovative sessions for children.

Duties:


  • Be main point of contact for all sessional staff and volunteers working within children's services.
  • Plan activities and opportunities for member engagement.
  • Encourage and request feedback from session leaders and share this feedback with senior management to help improve delivery of children's services (e.g. equipment required & activity suggestions).
  • Work alongside Youth Services Coordinator to coordinate staff between services.
  • Manage a team of sessional staff to ensure that clubs run smoothly and to expected standard.
  • Direct, lead and engage with members, their support staff/workers, volunteers, trainees and student placements to provide guidance and direction on activities and procedures for each activity or event.
  • Ensure that all relevant child protection and Health & Safety procedures are followed at all sessions and that the relevant documents are completed (e.g. accident/incident forms).
  • Encourage good behaviour and deal with any challenging behaviour/conduct in accordance with the organisations' policies and procedures.
  • Ensure nondiscriminatory practices at all times in line with the Equal Opportunities policy.
  • Preparation and clearing up of activities/areas/locations.
  • Contribute to joint working and partnership working ensuring positive relationships with all concerned.
  • Provide effective line management to our children's services facilitators and volunteers through regular catch ups, performance reviews and ongoing support and training.
  • Maintain and support schools with queries and referrals.
  • Attend and contribute to senior management planning sessions.

Health & Safety:


  • Ensuring that all areas/equipment used are free from hazard/danger.
  • Reporting/removing any items considered dangerous.
  • Ensuring all reasonable precautions are taken with regard to the children's and your own Health and Safety, on indoor/outdoor activities and games.
  • Understand and implement Dynamic Risk Benefit assessments.

Administration/Procedures:


  • Ensure familiarity and adherence to organisation's procedures/policies.
  • Support evaluation of the service by maintaining register of attendance, consent and evaluation records (observations, images, questionnaires, videos as appropriate).
  • Noting and acting with regard to special health or dietary needs of members on register.
  • Attendance at staff meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Keeping a log of, and reporting any issues on sessions to your line manager.
  • Other duties associated with the Children's Services as required.

Essential Requirements:


  • Previous experience in a similar role.
  • A driving license and access to your own car.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.

Job Types:
Part-time, Fixed term contract


Contract length: 12 months


Part-time hours: 25 per week

£16,640.00 per year
