Description

To lead, manage, develop, and be accountable for the department team and the curriculum at Key Stages 3, 4, & 5 in order to ensure the highest possible standards of pupil achievement, personal development and well-being.

Required for April 2024 or September 2024

Wootton Academy Trust [WAT] consists of Wootton Upper School, which has 900 pupils in Years 9-11 and Kimberley 16-19 College, which has 650 students in Years 12 and 13 studying Level 3 courses, and likely to increase further to 700 in September.

WAT is a happy, successful Trust and we are seeking to appoint someone to join our team and make a positive impact on students' lives.

Staff here are supportive, caring and committed to a collaborative approach to teaching and learning.

As a new member of staff, you can expect a warm welcome and a wide range of CPD opportunities to develop your practice and career.

The vacancy has arisen as our current post holder is moving to a post nearer to their home.

Traditionally, Music has had a high profile at the Trust with regular concerts and exchange visits including [ pre-Covid 19] bi-annual to Bamberg and annual to Bremen.

Our peripatetic instrumental and singing teachers come from the Bedford Music Co-operative.

The Trust continues to provide a free twenty-minute lesson from a Bedford Music Co-operative teacher to all pupils studying Music GCSE and A Level.

Kimberley opened in 2013 in a state-of-the-art building that provides excellent resources for both staff and students. Currently, A level Music is taught at Kimberley College. KS 3 Music and GCSE Music is taught at Wootton Upper School.

Our Creative Arts teachers work together in a local area to share best practice.

In addition to music, the local area includes our Drama and Dance staff, as well as Art and Photography teachers.

Our Head of Music will be an outstanding teacher able to teach A Level Music and should have a creative and dynamic approach to the teaching and learning and the skills to produce high quality musical events.

Ideally, the new Head of Department will be keen to develop a Key Stage 4 and a Key Stage 5 Music Technology qualification to sit alongside GCSE Music and A Level Music.

Over the last year, the Trust has invested very significantly in updating the Recording Studio and also updating Music Technology equipment.
