We are looking for an Insights & Learning Lead to join the Culture Equity Diversity Inclusion (CEDI) Team to do a maternity cover.

As part of the CEDI leadership team and managing a team of two managers, the Insights and learning lead works closely with the other CEDI leads and Programme manager to mobilise insights, learning and advice to inform their decisions and integrated initiative planning with senior leadership teams


Established in autumn 2021, our first year involved building the foundations, delivering demonstrator projects to illustrate the value of surfacing and learning from emerging external EDI practice, alongside supporting activity to review our internal progresses and evidence of impact.


We have access to a wealth of growing data insights and learning, generated either by our Data Insights team or from commissioned research and learning surfaced under Best Practice and Advising function.

Going into our second and third year, we are now embedding and integrating our approach, implementing our new advisory function and mobilising insights to make progress on our strategy, including our Anti-Racism and Anti-Ableism work.


In this role you will- Strategic lead and development of the insights and learning approach/strategy for the CEDI team, delivering projects and programmes in service to this function.- Be accountable for the successful establishment and growth of a community of external and internal advisors/partners to inform and co-develop CEDI programming across Wellcome.- Be accountable for landscaping research to ensure Wellcome is up-to-date on best & emergent practice in: behaviour change, systems thinking, inclusive practice, people centred design related to CEDI goals.- Be responsible for coaching and supporting the wider CEDI leadership team on their thought leadership and practice development.- Be accountable for horizon-scanning activities to ensure Wellcome is advised of any emerging risks and opportunities related to CEDI.- In collaboration with the Strategy Data & Insight team and People analytics role, be accountable for and have oversight of the collection, analysis/interpretation & reporting on CEDI data to support prioritization and ensure Wellcome-wide accountability for progress in CEDI- Be responsible for cascading analysis to inform CEDI decisions as well as accountable for the output of quality CEDI data collection and analysis- Be responsible for ensuring project plans, communications plans, tracking and workstream progress happens on time and to organisation-wide standards and represent your area of work in internal meetings and external fora, such as conferences, board meetings and steering groups and networks.- Advocate for Wellcome and the DEI strategy from a content perspective, identifying opportunities to provide leadership.- Contribute to the creation and development of a diverse and inclusive culture across the organisation, collaborating across departments.

To be successful in this role you will have- Experience of strategic partnerships work and substantial experience of deciding how to use data insights to execute departmental strategy / influence organisational strategy and some experience of translating organisational strategy to departmental strategy- Demonstrable experience of success with presenting insights and learning in a compelling way to inform senior leadership Some practitioner knowledge of inclusive practice in the science and health research field and a diversity specialism; ( e.g. 'protected characteristic', health equity and/or research equity- People management or equivalent matrix management experience and inclusive management skills, influential communicator with the ability to use insights and learning to influence- Experience of establishing, co-developing and co-designing with common goal networks and partnerships
