We are seeking a Personal Assistant to support a 21 year old autistic young man in his transition to independent living.

He works and looks after himself relatively competently but would benefit from non-family input to help him keep on top of life admin and support him to live his personal and social life according to his wishes as he has a tendency to get stuck in negativity.

The role will be based in his home and focused on supporting that transition and growth of independence, and specific tasks will include:

• Support in budgeting household bills
• Support in seeking somewhere to live
• Help with shopping and meal planning
• Teaching the value of housework, chores & personal care & setting up a plan to manage these duties and tasks
• Helping him develop new positive habits to support his health and wellbeing
• Hold him accountable to agreed plans and delivering them

We are looking for an honest, reliable and punctual person who is patient yet firm and can give a regular weekly commitment to this role.

A positive and can-do attitude is essential to support the young man and sometimes lead by example to demonstrate that change comes from within.

Hours are 3 hours a week on a Wednesday. Timing can be flexible to suit the applicant but commitment to the same chosen slot per week is preferred.

Pay is £36 a session

Training and induction - we will spend the first couple of weeks with you as orientation then the role will be 1:1.

Skills, qualifications and experience

• Essential:

- a valid DBS
- driving licence
- car and appropriate insurance
- confidentiality
- good at building relationships
- good communicator
- a good listener
- ability to support people with neuro-divergent behaviours.
