Would you like to join a food manufacturer who deal work with some of the largest sporting businesses and Michelin Star restaurants? Our client based in the London are searching for an Head of Operations to join their senior leadership team.


Job Role

The Head of Operations will report directly to the Finance & Operations Director and will be responsible for the roll out of strategic initiatives the day-to-day management and performance of the following areas: Packing, Transport, Hygiene, Facilities Management, Health & Safety and Engineering.


Requirements:

The key duties of the Head of Operations are as follows:
Overseeing the management of the Packing department.

Working with the Packing Manager to ensure:

  • Products are accurately packed in terms of type and quantity daily and are packed in a timely manner to help ensure the Transport team are able to deliver the goods to customers on time
  • The PC Data put to light packing software is fully managed and maintained and its use is optimised within the Packing Department and Company
  • The department is managed efficiently with the correct resources in order to perform at an optimal level and meets all KPIs required of it
  • The organisation and structure of the department is optimised
  • Liaising with Production to help coordinate both departments in meeting the despatch needs of the business
Overseeing the management of the Transport Department.

Working with the Transport Manager to ensure:

  • All deliveries are made to Customers on time and correctly with zero damages caused during the transport process
  • All routing is optimised
  • The relationship with third party transport companies is performed optimally and costs are minimised
  • The transport fleet is well maintained and adequately resourced to meet the needs of the business
  • Investment requirements are proposed to the Directors in a timely manner with a full and detailed rationale
  • Vehicle insurance costs are minimised
  • A Proof of Delivery system is implemented and operated to its full potential to help manage customer expectations and minimise the risk of customer issues in relation to deliveries
  • The department is managed efficiently with the correct resources in order to perform at an optimal level and meets all KPIs required of it
Overseeing the Hygiene function of the business.

Working with the Hygiene Manager to ensure:

  • All Company cleaning requirements are fully met and meet all relevant standards
  • All materials used are suitable for the needs of the Company and are environmentally clean wherever possible
  • Oversee the management of contracts such as for laundry, waste removal, and pest control
  • The department is managed efficiently with the correct resources in order to perform at an optimal level and meets all KPIs required of it
Overseeing the Facilities Management, Engineering and, Health & Safety requirements of the Company and ensuring.

Working with the Facilities Manager to ensure:

  • The premises are well maintained
  • All maintenance and servicing requirements are met
  • All legal requirements are being complied with
  • H&S best practice is being met
  • Appropriate resource is employed to meet these needs
  • All staff are suitably trained where relevant
  • All preventative maintenance requirements are put in place and are fully monitored and performed
  • All necessary maintenance is performed to an appropriate level
  • Working closely with the Head of Production in order to ensure all machine failures are dealt with as soon as possible and prevented where possible
  • All engineering projects are correctly, efficiently and effectively performed
  • Ensuring adequate critical spares and parts are held in order to minimise downtime

Other Matters:

  • Working closely with the Head of Production to ensure production and operations are fully joined up and synchronised to maximise the efficiency of the Company
  • Work closely with the Customer Services Department in order to ensure we resolve all customer issues appropriately
  • Working with the Technical function to ensure their requirements are met in the Operations Departments
  • Overseeing all HR requirements and administration for the various Operations Departments are appropriately performed. Ensuring with the help of HR that all disciplinary matters are dealt with correctly and following the correct procedures
  • Overall responsibility for the management and welfare of staff in the above departments
  • Be support for working managers where matters escalate beyond their capability
  • Liaise with Sales and Production for the onboarding of new customers and launches of new products where appropriate
  • Deal with escalations in relation to Operations
  • Attend and chair all relevant Operations meetings and have overall responsibility for KPIs relating to Operations
