About the Role


We are looking for a HR Advisor to join our team working in the Employment Support Services sector of the business based in our Customer Contact Centre in Wath-upon-Deane, Rotherham.


As HR Advisor you will be responsible for providing an excellent professional HR advisory service to line managers requiring advice, support, guidance and training on people management issues in order to maximise the effectiveness of our human resource within the Contact Centre environment and where appropriate, referring queries back to the HR Helpline or (S)HR Business Partner.


Some of the Key Responsibilities of this role will include:

  • To undertake all necessary duties of a HR Adviser in relation to a defined portfolio of operational service area(s) including disciplinary, grievance, attrition, absence, TUPE (where relevant) and capability.
  • Support the business unit managers with effective workforce planning, monitoring new starters and leavers to forecast for future vacancies.
  • Work closely with the PTS Business Intelligence team in collating the relevant HR management information as part of weekly/monthly operational reviews.
  • Provide advice and guidance on high level or complex employment related issues, policies/procedures and practices and terms and conditions across the business unit.
  • Develop, monitor, and review HR policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance whilst being fit for purpose.
  • Support the HR Business Partner and Senior Management Teams in reviewing talent across the business unit, including succession planning and organisational design.
  • Support first line managers with recruitment and absence improvements.
  • Highlight issues with a strategic, legal or employee relations impact to the HRBP.
  • Liaise with Trade Unions and staff representative on employee relation matters including pay negotiations if applicable.
  • To support any new business 'wins' or contract losses, in relation to the HR mobilisation plan for
  • TUPE.
  • Attend and support business Senior Management Team (SMT) meetings as and when required.
  • Attend and contribute to cross business meetings/activity as required.
  • Carry out any other duties as may be determined from time to time with the general scope of the post.

Essential Criteria:


  • 13 years business experience/HR management experience.
  • Understanding of all aspects of HR including employee relations, recruitment and selection.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills at all levels.
  • CIPD qualified or working towards qualification.
  • Excellent Interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work on own initiative and without need for close supervision.

Desirable Criteria:


  • Experience of relevant industry.
  • Strong customer focus.
  • Previously worked with unions.
  • Good IT Skills and data analysis.

In addition, it is important that you are able to effectively prioritise the various demands of the role whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail especially when dealing with complexity.

Good organisation and planning skills are essential


It is important to have the motivation to work on your own initiative, as well as the hunger to work as a real team player in collaboration with the wider team.
