Commissioned by Nottinghamshire Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC), Nottinghamshire Victim CARE is a free and confidential service available to all victims of crime and anti-social behaviour across Nottinghamshire.

The service supports Victims and survivors to be resilient and in doing so are less likely to be re-victimised; empowered to cope and recover from crime and anti-social behaviour by timely and effective victim-centred support from local services, families and communities.


Job Description:


We are looking to recruit a passionate advocate for the rights of victims of crime, in our Victim CARE team in Nottingham.

You will be providing support to victims of crime and anti-social behaviour across Nottinghamshire, through a Case Worker approach, becoming the primary named contact throughout the Victim's journey.


Your role will be to build and sustain high-quality relationships with victims through an offer of practical and emotional support that wins confidence and trust.

You will be charged with informing, consulting and empowering victims to feel supported, through the delivery of an agreed and tailored package of support.


You will be accessing interventions that meet the different and complex needs of victims and motivating and supporting people to cope and recover from difficult events in their lives.

The intensity and frequency of contact with your case load will be assessed to meet the individual risks and needs.

Some meetings will take place out of the office, in people's homes and the community by agreement.


As a Case Worker (Victim Support), your main accountabilities will include:

  • Access and guide victims through administrative information and advice packages including the use of a web-based information tool to inform victims at each stage
  • Risk manage each case through information gathered and monitored using Victim CARE's unique access to recognised Police and Criminal Justice Systems
  • Access various systems to record activity with Victims, research reported crime and antiscoial behaviour and track and monitor case progress.
  • Access Magistrates and Crown Court listings to identify witnesses in conjunction with Witness Care support services
  • Ensure all victims and witness referrals are identified, actioned and facilitated as identified from the Officer in Charge, direct referrals, selfreferrals or as identified through electronic case record systems where the victim consents

Qualifications:


To be successful as a Case Worker (Victim Support) you will need:

  • Experience of working with highly vulnerable people
  • The ability to work on an interagency basis
  • The ability to listen and communicate to an acceptable standard; both in writing and to disseminate information in an easily understood and appropriate format.
  • Be able to work with a variety of data management systems and information sources, maintaining coordination of progress with individual cases within a high volume service.
  • The ability to contribute to ongoing assessments of the support needs of people and to provide appropriate advice and support to them.
  • The ability to demonstate professional empathy with those suffering discrimination and disadvantage
  • Effective communication skills in both the verbal and written form with the ability to handle enquiries from victims in both a competent and articulate manner
  • IT literate and able to learn new packages quickly
  • Highly organised
  • General administration skills

Additional Information


Salary:
starting at £24,001


Case Workers need to be available to work between 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 5pm on a Saturday inclusive.
