The University Library is seeking to recruit a Facilities Management Assistant (FMA) to join our busy Facilities Department.

The team provide a full range of facilities management services to the University Library and a network of affiliated libraries in the Cambridge area.

All FMAs are expected to be multi-skilled and flexible in their approach to their duties.

The General Support role emphasises portering, opening and closing of the building, escorting visitors and contractors, basic maintenance tasks (both alone and assisting tradespeople) and spot cleaning.

The role also includes making occasional collections and deliveries in the University Library van.


The University Library is currently a 6-day-a-week operation and the post will include working two Saturdays per month according to a pre-determined rota.

Occasional out of hours working may also be required.

The role-holder will be expected to engage with training and development opportunities from the outset.

Good communication and basic IT skills are essential as well as demonstrable experience of adhering to the highest standards in Health and Safety, respect for diversity and dignity at work.
