We have an exciting opportunity for an Ethical Lead to join our Technical team to manage the ethical and sustainability requirements of Keelings International and its customers.

Key accountabilities

  • Leading on ethical and human rights framework and initiatives aligned with customer and wider One Keelings strategy for better food better world. Planning a schedule of activities across the year which meet customer needs, external legislative requirements and delivering the One Keelings priorities.
  • Responsible managing ethical approval of suppliers with support from within the Keeling International Technical Team.
  • Responsible for rolling out a riskbased ethical audit program for suppliers working with the wider technical team.
  • Work closely with the the team to support on sustainability and environmental projects. To champion energy and waste management and monitoring across supply chain.
  • Manage the measuring and reporting of environmental and sustainability targets within the business and supply chain.
  • Attend and actively participate in customer and industry ethical trade forums including FNET, Ethical Trade Forums, Customer conferences, Stronger Together. Contribute and take an active role in wider networks supporting industry developments.
  • Build strong relationships with the customer ethical trade teams, regularly attending customer head office.
  • Engage in supplierbased projects to enhance worker conditions in the global supply chain.
  • Identify and manage funding opportunities which may benefit the lives of people and environments in our supply chain and liaise with appropriate NGOs in source countries.
  • Engaging with and audit labour providers to ensure compliance within the business.
  • Work closely with the People team with management of ETI compliance and SMETA audits at own sites.
  • Working with the People team and business unit committee to deliver health and wellbeing agenda for colleagues in our own site.
  • Manage supplier SEDEX compliance with support from within the Technical team.
  • Providing updates, communication upskilling our management teams on ethical, environmental and sustainability requirements.
Key Skills & Knowledge

  • Good knowledge of Ethical Trade Initiative Base Code, SEDEX SMETA and customer policies
  • Knowledge of fresh produce supply chains
  • A health and safety qualification would be advantageous
  • Selfmotivated with a passion to deliver
  • Team Player
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage detailed complex information and analyse effectively
  • Assertive, confident, and clear
  • Able to make decisions and act on findings quickly and effectively within commercial constraints
