If you do not hold the Trusts Care Certificate it will be essential that you attend 3 weeks training to achieve the Care Certificate which is a requirement for this role.

Other training related to the post will also be provided e.g. venepuncture and assisting in theatre in addition to the Trusts mandatory training.

As a radiotherapy department assistant working as part of a radiotherapy team, you will be under the direct supervision of the Brachytherapy Operational Manager but will also be required to liaise with the other managers within the department, especially in regards to daily clinical needs.


As a key element of the role, the post holder will provide information, practical and emotional support to patients and carers during their radiotherapy treatment, plus support the clinical staff across the sections within the department.

The post holder will be required to provide both clinical and administrative support.

The St Lukes Radiotherapy Department is based at the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford and operates a satellite service from the East Surrey Hospital in Redhill.

This post is based at the Royal Surrey County Hospital Guildford however some cover may be required at Redhill to cover annual leave and sickness.
