Business Support Officer (Adoption Service)

2 Years fixed term contract [with scope for extension]

Part Time 22.2 hours

Grade 6 £21,960- £22,768 (Full Time equivalent) depending on experience


We are excited to have a current opportunity for an experienced Business Support Officer who will work for Doncaster Council within the Adoption team.

The Adoption service spans four local authorities, Doncaster, Barnsley, Sheffield and Rotherham.

You will be based in Doncaster but work with colleagues across the other three areas to provide a consistent service to our customers.

The role will allow the successful applicant to be able to participate in the roles development and improvement of a new project within the service and will lead to the progression of a highly skilled and supportive business function.

Support, coordination and creation of processes within a project.

Responsibility for specific work streams and timescales

Taking complex electronic minutes.

Financial processing

Coordination of planned events/meetings.

Collation and distribution of all linked documentation in line timescales.

Forming professional relationships with colleagues and external partners.


To work as part of a team and be able to work flexibly to meet the demands of the role.

Confident when communicating with people both in writing and verbally.


Full training for the role will be provided as this is a specialist position, and applicants would not be expected to demonstrate knowledge other than strong administrative/secretarial skills and experience.


The post holder will be working with confidential information and will be expected to work within Data Protection guidelines at all times.
