About the Role:


Are you someone who wants to gain a unique overview and insight into the strategic direction of the FCA With the opportunity to understand our data and business processes and influence change across the FCA.

We are looking for a Data modeller with experience of complex problem analysis, conceptual Datamodelling, requirements capture and refinement.

You'll be looking for an opportunity to work with senior business stakeholders to understand, scope and interpret strategic business change into data concepts which can then shape the broader data landscape.

You will be a key contributor to data procedures practices and policies and make a substantial and valued contribution to the FCA in a role that offers great challenges in the immediate future and as the FCA develops.


Key roles & responsibilities:


  • Modelling data changes required as defined by new features or regulatory needs.
  • Facilitating workshops to gather requirements and gain consensus on design decisions.
  • Contribution in filling any gaps in the wider enterprise models
  • Ensuring that the data model is aligned to the wider enterprise models, raising issues with the data architects for any exceptions.
  • Working with the business analysts, product teams and architects to build data flows and develop conceptual models.
  • Maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models along with corresponding metadata.
  • Perform reverse engineering of physical data models held in databases and SaaS platforms.
  • Work with data governance to ensure that changes are captured, designed and governed appropriately.
  • Own and maintain product data models and maps in FCA tooling along with relevant metadata.
  • Engage and collaborate with the data architects when new data concepts are being developed.
  • Working with operational teams on production issues and assisting with root cause analysis.
  • Contribute to principles, patterns, and standards in collaboration with the wider data teams.
  • Review and quality assure artefacts created by external suppliers and internal teams
  • Completion of data architecture artefacts and data architecture contribution to enterprise architecture/solution architecture more broadly to ensure delivery of successful and predictable outcomes for projects
  • Contributing to the relevant communities of practice to build the overall business, technical and Data Architecture capability.

Skills/Experience Required

Minimum:


  • Hands on experience of conceptual, logical and physical Datamodelling in a complex environment
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills, ability to communicate to technical and nontechnical stakeholders
  • Experience in Datamodelling (3NF, star, snowflake, DV2, etc. schemas)
  • Experience of working with internal customers to define data relevant use cases and build appropriate models which meet their needs

Essential:


  • Experience of traditional Datamodelling techniques such as IDEF1x, IE using a range of modelling and architecture tools, for example: Erwin, Solidatus, Safyr, Avolution ABACUS, ARCHI
  • Experience of creating data dictionaries and taxonomies and developing best practices and governance for dictionary maintenance
  • Experience of business analysis or requirement elicitation and shaping
  • Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills, logical and lateral thinker
  • A good understanding of the Software Delivery Lifecycle (SDLC) using both agile and waterfall methodologies
  • Knowledge of third normal form and dimensional Datamodelling
  • Familiarity with relational database, data warehouse and big data concepts

Desirable:


  • Knowledge of cloud technologies and big data technologies
  • Knowledge of software development
  • Experience of using SQL and other programming languages.
  • Knowledge of data analytics, APIs, databases, and related technology
  • Experience of class modelling using UML
  • Understanding of how nonfunctional requirements such as security, performance,
- scalability and availability are designed, implemented, verified, and maintained
